Matthew Crane “Young Maestro” was once the UK’s Youngest Baritone. At 21, after ten years continual vocal training, he has already surpassed the careers of many of his musical counterparts of the older generation. He has competed in many festivals and won many accolades for his stunning renditions of classics and has performed on the World’s grandest stages including, The Royal Albert Hall, The NEC, The 02 Arena and The Fairfield Halls alongside The London Mozart Players, to great acclaim.
Matthew’s extraordinary talent was discovered by his music teacher Lynne Buckley, who recommended Matthew to Train and study Music under the tuition of International Soprano Christine Hubbard who trained with the Welsh National Opera. Matthew has also received tuition from Tay Cheng-Jim, an experienced teacher/counter tenor whom studied at The Guildhall School of Music and performed with the English National Opera.
Matthew’s journey began when he won the prestigious Star4Medway competition in 2005 at just twelve years old, Won the chance to perform at the first ever Kent Music Festival and to sing alongside Miss Katherine Jenkins. Matthew’s many achievements include being a champion of the BBC Talent Show, “Let Me Entertain You”, hosted by Brian Conley and Christine Bleakley, a support artist for Katherine Jenkins and a regular face on terrestrial television. Matthew has gained much local and national press interest on his journey so far and also many glowing celebrity reviews including a “Daily Express” article written by journalist, Vanessa Feltz and a letter of support and recommendation from the talented musician, Jools Holland.
Matthew has also won many Festivals with distinctions for outstanding performances winning over 48 competitions, trophies and medals. He has also won several major titles such as UK Unsigned, one of the biggest National Talent shows in the UK, Held at the Hackney Empire Theatre, London. Matthew also had success with a hip-hopera track titled “Memories” on Sky TV’s Channel U; it reached no 3 in the Urban Music Charts. He has also collaborated on other hip-hop/classical tracks with well-known urban artists.
Matthew works tirelessly for charities and has contributed to help rise over £1,000,000. He is a Patron for the Step & Learn Charity a local Charity which offers help and care to Children with cerebral palsy and their families. Matthew is also a Patron of the SCF “The Survivors Coalition Foundation” a support organisation set up to support the victims and families and brave survivors from any act of terrorism. Matthew achieved 16 GCSES with 4 x A Star Distinctions in Music, and a National Diploma in Music Practice. Matthew’s ambitions are to be one of the best-selling singer-songwriters of all time.
Matthew has performed at the 02 to a crowd of 20,000 in the ‘Voice in a Million’ Concert in London Supported by a choir of 5000 children for The British Association for Adoption & Fostering (BAAF).Matthew also completed a UK Tour with “The Soldiers” in 2010 called The Coming Home Tour he received MANY standing ovations at the 10 venues he performed and was very well received. Matthew Performed to the Royal Family of Sheik Mohamed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum in Dubai at a Prestigious Charity fundraising event in May 2010.
Matthew is currently involved in many projects and has his own recording studio at home and is concentrating on becoming a credible and successful singer-songwriter.
Matthew recently won The Elite Talent Competition at The Circus Tavern Essex 26th October 2012 with his own composition of a Hip-Hop/Classical Song with rapper Ikue called ‘Amore Ti Amo’, which was very well received. This type of music was referred to by the Celebrity Judges as ‘fresh’ and ‘exciting’, fusing Opera and Rap together is next Generation music.
Matthew and his Father completed the London Marathon in April 2013 and raised £2,500 for VICTA (Visually impaired Children taking Action)
He has also been asked to appear at Rochester Cathedral in October for The Wisdom Hospice and the Grand Water Rats Ball in November 2013 to a celebrity star studded audience. His Debut EP ‘Start To Live’ is out now; it has been written and produced by Matthew himself.
